This book has it all! Mystery, romance, intrigue, physical challenge and is centered around an international event that will interest and fascinate readers. The story is expertly written and flows smoothly, making for easy and enjoyable reading. I loved the imaginative sentences and insight into the nuances of individual personalities.
Tony does an excellent job explaining in great detail the events, and what goes on behind the scenes of a tree climbing comp. If I were to attempt this not one single person would get past the first page. I was hooked with the story with in the story, couldn't put the book down until I turned last page. Great read for both Tree people or any one that just loves a good mystery/thriller.
The main character Mike is deftly painted as normal guy, with a not so normal background accidentally thrust into an investigator role. As Mike thinks his way through the twisting and turning mystery, the reader is treated with a detailed education on the sport of tree climbing. At multiple points the descriptions were so vivid I could feel the deep burn of vertigo squarely in my non-tree climbing stomach. I tore through the book in a couple of days and am definitely looking forward to the next!
The story starts off in a unique setting - an international tree climbing championship. At first there is a lot of technical information about the competition, which arborists will love, but others can simply wade through. But the story builds, chapter by chapter, toward the climax at the end. The author deftly creates the suspense as he develops the main character. I look forward to more novels from this new author.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. I was able to share a few days in the life of a competitive climber, a few days filled with mystery and intrigue!!
